[Background]

[Personality]

Tatsumi is a character that many see as a cute person at first. While this may be true, for the people observing him the reality of whom and what he really is isn’t shown until a later time. Still, he is a fairly complex character; he has a few defining traits that do not change even as the manga reveals unknown things.

The first impression Tatsumi gives off is the impression of being happy-go-lucky, friendly, and even a little slow to gather things. It gives him an almost pitiful demeanor. However, this is all just a well-planned and trained rouse. Tatsumi is, literally, a person that would like nothing better than to see the world burn away and crumble. At his core, he is a Nihilist, someone that believes there is no meaning to living; still, he likes to find enjoyment and entertainment in things. In the end, though, he wants to watch everything burn and to die having watched the world end around him, and to have this means he needs to come off as innocent and harmless. That way he can watch on the sidelines while people suffer and no one would be the wiser that he had involvement in the matter.

With all of that Tatsumi is, needless to say, a master at manipulation. He is able to arrange an entire situation into looking like he wasn’t at fault or that he never even knew the situation was happening. His ability for manipulation also stretches into his duties as a servant for the Kirishiki family, more importantly Sunako. Tatsumi is the care figure and teacher for new Shiki, but also the strong arm and cruel figure of the Kirishiki family. He is easily able to gain control over subordinates by threatening things they care about, threatening them with torture, and even threatening them with death. Tatsumi is able to find out what means the most to them and then manipulate and control things from behind or clearly in front of them. Since he’s a werewolf - or Jinrou, a Shiki that can walk in daylight - he can easily hold any kind of threat for death true with any normal Shiki.

In being able to threaten and perform these punishments, Tatsumi is a very cruel person and it extends to the point of sadism. Finding enjoyment in seeing others suffer, he would order someone to kill their best friend or even their family. Then, he watches in the background as they decide to end the other person’s life or face the punishment and possible fact of their own death. This isn’t limited to just the newly formed Shiki; he also states that he loves to watch Sunako suffer so beautifully. He gets a thrill from it and clearly loves to see what might happen. This, however, also serves the purpose of proving his total control over those he is higher than: ruling with fear and forced respect over earned respect and kindness.

Tatsumi likes to keep one step ahead of whomever he might be dealing with; this makes him cunning and intelligent. Tatsumi loves observing and is very good at lying in wait while he gathers information and stalks his “prey” or subordinates. In this way he can easily spot out weaknesses and then twist a situation to hurt the person the most. He can easily foresee conflicts because of this ability. On a few occasions, he has predicted something might happen differently than he instructed and he is quickly able to keep calm while he deals with it or lets it play out. Just being able to remain calm even with unexpected surprises shows that he is great at keeping control, no matter what might happen. That isn’t to say he doesn’t still get annoyed or angry when someone starts to mess with his planning out of an event. However, if that does happen he is quick to eliminate the problem in the equation either by instructing others or by doing it himself. He doesn’t tolerate opposition from anyone - especially not if it messes with the master plan.

In regards to the master plan, to turn an entire village of humans into a village of Shiki, Tatsumi knows the plan is a failure from the start. Yet, he still does as he’s told instead getting enjoyment out of seeing how much this might fail. Even with knowing this might all fail he still has a degree of protectiveness over the Shiki, like Sunako. He doesn’t tolerating people hunting them and goes to certain lengths to save Sunako. It is revealed that this is really for his own selfish enjoyment. The Jinrou wants to be able to watch the world crumble since the laws of nature don’t allow a predator, the Shiki, to overpopulate a prey, the humans. Tatsumi wants to see it happen so he can be the last one to die after he has seen it all destroyed before his eyes.

Still, he does hold some respect for Sunako because he stated without her he wouldn’t have been able to live as long as he had. So even with his feelings and knowing he is superior to Shiki, he considers himself a down to earth thinker; he willingly obeys orders and doesn't really throw around that he is that much more special that normal Shiki or that Shiki are those who couldn’t become Jinrou. Instead, he just tries to help the lonely girl Sunako achieve her doomed plan. This makes it hard to see if he is really kind or just cruel.

As far as relationships with Tatsumi go he gets along, in a loose term, with most. If he doesn’t like someone he is quick to let them know, but if he likes someone he is willing to let them hang around for entertainment. There are few he has some form of true respect for because most he simply sees as stepping stones on his way to something he wants or needs.

Sunako is one of the few he respects even though he still sees most of her dreams as pointless. He holds a little respect in what she wants to achieve in the world. She is the symbol of perish and destruction to him. In a world defended by justice, law, and order, she’s an antisocial antagonist to him. That excited him and gave him entertainment, so in this fact he forms a kind of respect for her.

Outside of his household he holds both annoyance and a little respect for Yuuki Natsuno and Toshi Ozaki. They were the first to find out about the Shiki, so he has respect in the fact they are intelligent and smart - but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have distain for them. The first he dealt with was Yuuki Natsuno mostly because the boy decided to try to hunt them, which is a big no-no; but, when he was revived a Jinrou Tatsumi held more respect for him since it was a rare occurrence. In the end, though, he held a great deal of hatred for the other when he was the reason for his death even if he found it amusing that someone had bested him at the time.

Ozaki, on the other hand, was a problem for him, but he did respect his efforts despite still striving to show he was smarter and more equipped. In the end, Ozaki became an even bigger problem for the Shiki. This is a good example of how his need to entertain himself and Sunako’s rule came to get him in the end.

Other Shiki, like Tohru and Megumi, are like pawns for the Jinrou. While he acts like he is friendly and kind to them he does see them as inferior, and lets them know that fact with his threats on their lives. He knows they will all die off again in the end even if the master plan was to work.

Everything rots away and perishes in the end; nothing can last forever.

[Specialties/Abilities]

Tatsumi is a Jinrou - which is a stronger version of a Shiki - but first I'll explain what a Shiki is since you need to understand one to know the other.

A Shiki is a living dead or vampire; they are humans that have risen from the dead after being drained of blood by another Shiki, though not all humans can become Shiki. It has to do with genetics, but also with the ability to become one. It’s been stated that if both parents of a child don’t become a Shiki, then the child has a 0% chance of rising; if one parent does become a Shiki, then the child has a 50% chance. So, if both parents rise then it’s close to a 100% chance that the child will, too. It’s really just a game of chance if you become one or not. Plus, if a Shiki doesn’t rise within 5 days, then they will not rise at all. It’s a waiting game expect for the Jinrou who can sniff out whether someone will stay dead or rise.

Once a person has become a Shiki, they no longer breathe or have a pulse, and they are cold to the touch; but, they also have the need to feed on blood - human blood, specifically - in order to survive. Without it they suffer a horrible hunger that many can’t survive and they end up wasting away or attack the first human they see. Though they can have normal liquids, they can’t eat any kind of human food.

Shiki have the ability to be able to regenerate quickly from any wound or injury. To a degree they can levitate above the ground. They keep the same amount of strength they held as a human. Shiki can also use a form of hypnosis to put their victims under their complete control, though it works on a priority system. The first person to drink from from them has greater control than the second. But, along with all of that, a weakness Shiki have is that they can’t stand religious artifacts; it creates a primal fear in them even if they had no such fear when they were alive. Another weakness that they have is that they enter a coma-like state when the sun begins to rise, so they quickly need to seek shelter beforehand or they will be burned by the sunlight.

Besides sunlight, the only ways to kill a Shiki are to stake them through the heart or decapitate them. Another flaw with both Shiki and Jinrou is the fact they cannot enter a house without first being invited, even if they once lived there. Once they die. they are no longer part of the household. Until the family dies or leaves they may not enter if they are not invited.

Now, some of this is the same for a Jinrou - or werewolf - but there are major differences as well.

First, Jinrou never truly die like a Shiki; their body simply redesigns into that of a Jinrou. This sub-species of Shiki is very rare. Tatsumi states to Natsuno at one point that only 4-5 Jinrou exist within the whole of Japan’s Shiki population. He believes that Shiki are simply those who couldn’t reach the ability of becoming a Jinrou.

Some other major differences are in the fact that Jinrou can walk in daylight, have a pulse, breathe, survive on normal food and liquid (not needing blood, though they need it to unlock their full potentials as a Jinrou). Their five senses are extremely heightened and they are much stronger than a normal person or Shiki, making them considerably harder to kill.

[Affection]

Well as for real affections you might want to look elsewhere. I think he is capable of showing them but it's hard to get them from him. However, as far as faking affections he would be more than happy to do so. If you hug him he will hug you back. So affections are allowed though he might want to be your friend and that can be a dangerous track record.

[Fighting]

Yes for; fight/injure though for Killing him please let me know ahead of time if you might want to do so and I can tell you if it's a good or bad time to do so. Though since he is a Jinrou it can take a LOT to kill him. I mean they can take gun shots to the head and survive even with their brain exposed.

Tatsumi is a good fighter and a cruel one. He can easily kill a human as well as Shiki, so fighting might be a dangerous zone to go into with Tatsumi.

Only if he is truly annoyed or you try to tell something or do something he doesn't want, then he will more than likely not start a fight but he will finish one if needed.

[Other Permissions]

Being a Shiki and Jinrou, Tatsumi requires blood and isn't one to go without it. (Since not drinking it causes his enhanced abilities to go down.) With this fact though he has the ability to hypnosis his victim. He can make them act or say things as he told them after drinking their blood. Because of this fact if your character does have their blood drank by him you will need give me permission for him to do it again or for him to hypnosis them.

Tatsumi is also kind amped up on his sense of smell and other senses, he's a stalker (he likes to observe and watch people) and wants to make another shiki village here, more than likely. though that will fail

Because all of this just give me a heads up if you are or aren't okay with some parts of this! I will make sure to ask ahead of anything he might try to do.

[Other Facts] Will add if needed 8D
