“Sunako is beautiful. In a world defended by justice, law and order she’s an antisocial antagonist. Due to the balance existing in natural ecosystems, the number of carnivores can’t be greater than that of herbivores. The same goes for humans and Shiki, yet what Sunako tried to do in this village it goes against that principle. There was no way she’d have succeeded.
But it’s exactly for the reason my way of thinking being so down to earth and nihilistic like that, that I find Sunako highly entertaining. This feeling is probably unfamiliar to you, eh? Anyway, since it seemed like a rather fun idea to try out I went along with it.
If humans were to get eradicated, Shiki would perish too. And the world would meet its end as well. I wanted to witness it…You know, I wanted to become a man who died for the second time from the end of the world I really wanted…to see with my own eyes the world falling to pieces and disappearing without a trace, and then die as the last man…I really had a lot of fun being by Sunako’s side might as well admit that much in these final moments…
I, who was immersed in despair so deep that I wanted to die, was able to live that long only due to her.”
